The metal bellows convolutes are filled with space-age SILOFLEX® elastomer to combine the sound and vibration dampening qualities of rubber with the higher pressure characteristics and longer cycle life of stainless steel bellows and braid.
The SILOFLEX® liner prevents the convolutes from collecting dirt and debris, which cause pressure to drop, loss of flexibility, and reduced cycle life.
The SILOFLEX® liner redistributes stresses over the interior surface. The system pressure sees the cylinder formed by the SILOFLEX® liner rather than the entire bellows inner surface.
The SILOFLEX® liner protects the entire wetted surface, extending through the flanges to the integral SILOFLEX® gasket. Friction loss and turbulence are reduced to approximately that of plain pipe; only ¼ that of convoluted bellows.
The SILOFLEX® liner insulates and protects the stainless steel bellows from chloride corrosion and stress cracking.
